Stretching

What is a professional Stretching Session?

Our 25-minute stretching sessions are the perfect addition to your exercise routine. We use a combination of active (in-motion) and passive (sedentary) stretching, myofascial compression, and controlled stabilization movements to improve your flexibility and range of motion. If you experience difficulty with movement, we will customize stretches and myofascial compression techniques to meet your specific needs.

What are the benefits?

At Powell Chiropractic Health Center, we define mobility as the ability to move freely without pain. Stretching regularly can help alleviate muscle and joint aches and pains by increasing blood flow. We recommend stretching regularly to experience all the benefits it has to offer.

Stretching can also help reduce the risk of injury during physical activity. By loosening up the muscles and increasing blood flow to the tissues, stretching can help prepare your body for exercise and prevent strains or sprains. With increase circulation, you can also see improvements with digestion, fewer tension headaches, and reduced anxiety or stress.

If paired with chiropractic adjustments, stretching can improve your posture and balance as well, reducing the risk of falls or accidents. Stretching the muscles in your chest, shoulders, and back can keep your spine in better alignment. Try our stretching sessions to improve your mobility and overall well-being.

Infrared Light Therapy

Benefits of Infrared and Red Light Therapy

Infrared therapy is a new and innovative light-based method to treat pain and inflammation in various parts of the body. Unlike ultraviolet light, which can damage the skin, infrared light enhances cell regeneration. Infrared light is delivered to the site of injury or inflammation at certain wavelengths, promoting cell repair.

Red light therapy is a treatment that uses low-wavelength red light to reportedly improve your skin’s appearance, such as reducing wrinkles, scars, redness and acne. It’s also touted to treat other medical conditions.

Infrared Therapy Blanket

Our Infrared Light Blanket is essentially a sleeping bag lined with infrared heating technology, which acts as an alternative treatment for various health conditions like muscle pain, joint stiffness, and arthritis, to name a few. Infrared light therapy offers many benefits to the body, including:

  • Detoxification
  • Pain relief
  • Reduction of muscle tension
  • Relaxation
  • Improved circulation
  • Weight loss
  • Skin purification
  • Lowered side effects of diabetes
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Lowering of blood pressure

Infrared and Red Light Body Belt

Our Infrared and Red Light Belt is a body belt that can be comfortably wrapped around areas such as the stomach, back, shoulders, buttocks, and thighs. The body belt integrates elements of Infrared and Red light heating technology, thereby offering similar benefits to those of the Infrared Light Blanket to targeted areas. Additionally, the Red Light benefits include a range of therapeutic advantages, including:

  • Stimulate wound healing
  • Reduce stretch marks
  • Reduce wrinkles, fine lines and age spots
  • Improve psoriasis, rosacea and eczema
  • Diminish scars
  • Improve sun-damaged skin
  • Boost energy

Soft Tissue Mobilization

What is Soft Tissue Mobilization?

Instruments are used to effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM) initiates the reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities in the area, such as reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow. STM is offered for acute and chronic injuries as well as post-surgically.

Benefits of Soft Tissue Mobilization

This service can result in less inflammation, better range of motion, decreased pain levels, and contributes to proper circulation. Some other benefits include:

  • Increase collagen production
  • Restore proper function
  • Speed up recovery time
  • Improve mobility
  • Alleviate chronic pain conditions
  • No downtime and you can continue activities as normal

Microneedling

Our Board-Certified Acupuncture Physician, Hannah, performs Microneedling services here at Powell Chiropractic Health Center! Please scroll down to learn more about what this service entails, what kind of issues the service can help treat, and what the contraindications are for treatment.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is performed using a handheld, drum- or pen-shaped device, electrically powered, with tiny needles that make precise, microscopic punctures in the skin. These “micro-injuries” do not leave scars; they work by helping to stimulate the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling. This process starts with inflammation, which stimulates the skin to produce new collagen (the elastic fibers that make skin tight, smooth, and youthful).

Collagen levels in the skin decline as we age, and new collagen can be produced when the skin is in repair mode. We utilize both nano-needling (penetrates the epidermis, top layer of skin) and microneedling (penetrates the dermis, the second layer, deeper).

What Does the Process Look Like?
  1. The patient's face is cleaned and makeup/oils are removed.
  2. Numbing cream is applied to the face. It will take 20-30 min for the numbing cream to take full effect.
  3. Nano-needling will be performed around the eyes while waiting for the numbing cream to take effect. Nano-needling is not painful and can be administered without a topical numbing cream.
  4. Next, the numbing cream is removed and the face is cleaned once more.
  5. The Image Skincare - Ormedic balancing antioxidant serum will be applied to each area as it is microneedled, starting with the forehead, then moving to other areas of the face.
  6. After microneedling all areas, the Image Skincare - Ormedic serum will be applied once more.
  7. The patient is now ready to be on their way.

**Neck, décolleté (chest), arms, etc. can also be worked on for an additional charge. Please consult with our office if you are interested in treating these areas as well.

Therapeutic Injections

What are Therapeutic Injectables?

We offer injectables of Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3, and Lipo-Mino-Mix. These injections are quick, virtually painless intramuscular shots that offer maximum absorption benefits. Oral vitamin supplements have to be processed through the digestive system and you can lose some bioavailability of the vitamin itself. An injection will bypass this and be immediately entered into the bloodstream. With vitamin injections, individuals can potentially experience more energy, better sleep patterns, improved cognitive performance, and improved quality of life.

The needles themselves have less sensation than that of a flu shot and the appointment takes less than 10 minutes. This is an easy and safe way to ensure that you are getting the proper nutrients your body needs to function.

What Are the Benefits of Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 is a crucial nutrient responsible for more than 100 important bodily functions. It plays a vital role in producing digestive enzymes and transporting essential nutrients to and from your cells. For those who have a B12 deficiency, these shots containing a high dosage of the vitamin are administered directly into the muscle tissue.

Some major benefits could include:

  • Reducing depression or cognitive decline
  • Lowering general fatigue
  • Improving metabolism
  • Protecting the heart
  • Improving low sperm count
  • Helping with fetal development during pregnancy
  • Helping prevent or treat Diabetic Neuropathy

What Are the Benefits of Vitamin D3?

It is a critical nutrient that your body relies on for a range of functions. Some of the most important functions include supporting your immune system and bone strength. These shots include a high dosage of Vitamin D3 and are administered intramuscularly for maximum absorption in the bloodstream.

Some major benefits could include:

  • Improving bone strength
  • Supporting a healthy heart by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Increasing immune system responsiveness
  • Elevating mood
  • Supporting cognitive health
  • Supporting weight loss

*Lab work/blood work results are highly recommended before getting a Vitamin D3 injection. Consult with out Acupuncture Physician for free before scheduling an appointment.
